The Downside of Blogging
In January my son David suggested that I post the devotions from my book The God Who Sees Me - A Devotional Prayer Journal online. Since then I have logged many hours on the computer both in writing the devotions and interacting with others on blogs – which has been a great blessing. The downside is that I have put on ten pounds since January! So, it’s back to the gym (Curves) and swimming twice a week and trying to watch the calories.
This week I received a devotional book I ordered from Amazon.com A Woman of Moderation by Dee Brestin. I started the eight week “Setting Captives Free” diet that she recommends in the book. My aunt in Florida is my accountability partner by e-mail and I started yesterday when Ron and I went out after church. I ate half of my meal and the other half in the evening. The program focuses on praying the Psalms four times a day and alternating days as follows:
* * *
Two Half Days – eating three meals only half as much as usual
Two Liquid Days – eating one solid meal and liquids (juice, V-8, milk, clear soups, etc. the rest of the day)
Two Normal Days – three regular meals – not overeating
One Fast Day – drinking only water for 24 hrs (As in from dinner the night before to breaking fast at dinner on the fast day.)
* * *
The Psalms I read and prayed to the Lord this morning were:
Psalms 34:8-9 NKJV
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
Psalms 37:3-5 NKJV
Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
Psalms 139:23 NKJV
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
I would definitely appreciate your prayers that the Lord will help me stick to this eight week program faithfully. Especially day after tomorrow when I do my first fast day. :)

My Psalm to pray this morning:
Psalms 5:11-12
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You.
For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
NKJV
