Anniversary Thoughts
This past weekend Ron and I celebrated our 45th anniversary. We had a wonderful time going back to our old home town and doing familiar things, like Lamb’s Player’s Theater, San Diego Zoo and our former church Shadow Mountain Community Church - a weekend of great music, fun activities and intimate dinners.
I am so thankful for the husband God gave to me 45 years ago. We didn’t know all that we were supposed to look for in a mate, except that we both loved the Lord and agreed that He would be at the center of our lives.
Now, four children and 14 grandchildren later I can say that this has been true for us. Life hasn’t always been easy, but without hesitation I can say we have been blessed, and the decision to follow God’s leading in our lives was the most important choice we have ever made. This anniversary card Ron gave to me expresses how we both feel:
I love looking back
To where we began,
Seeing us as we were
At the beginning,
Then slowly leafing through
The memories
We’ve made together
To bring us
To where we are
Today...
I love anticipating
The days ahead of us,
Wondering what
We’ll find
In each other,
In ourselves,
Before another year
Has slipped away
But best of all,
I love being with you where we are today,
Together writing the pages
We’ll remember tomorrow.
I Love You
With All of My Heart
Comments
Thank you for the good wishes!
My desire at this stage of life is to encourage young couples to focus on their commitment to Christ and to each other above all of the other demands of life. When we do that He promises to give us wisdom in raising our children and interacting with others.
Children are quick to see hypocrisy, so our relationship with the Lord must be personal and real and based on His unchanging Word. Only then will we have something to give to others, and to receive from others the benefits of Christian relationships.
